Rev. Don Lorfing - Pastor

Before coming to serve as Senior Pastor at Good Samaritan in December 2003, Pastor Don Lorfing served at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Ahwatukee, Arizona (close to Phoenix). Since 2004, our church has more than doubled in size, expanded its children and youth ministry and strengthened a number of existing ministries such as Bible and book studies, small groups, adult fellowship, quilting, global mission and homeless assistance and purchased 4+ acres of land to build a new church and preschool in Southwest Las Vegas in the vicinity of Windmill and Durango.

A native of Laurel, Montana, Pastor Don earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and graduated with his Master's of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in South Carolina.

Pastor Don and his wife, Amy, have two children, Tristen (9) and Kyrie (5). Though his spare time is limited, he still finds time to play basketball, take his family on hikes at Red Rock, participate in family activities, and even enjoy a bit of time with friends.

Pastor Dave Miller - Visitation Minister

Pastor Dave is now officially the part time Visitation Pastor for Good Samaritan. He will make hospital and home visits and provide home communions. Pastor Dave is the founding pastor of Good Samaritan serving here from 1976-1992. He has spent some 37 years in ordained ministry including parishes in southern and northern Nevada and California. He retired from full time ministry in 2006. He lives in the Anthem area of Henderson with his wife, Ann, of nearly forty years. The Millers have one son, Stephen, a daughter-in-law, Leslie, and a ten year old grandson, Dylan who reside in Las Vegas.

Jolene Carlin - Parish Administrator: 

Jolene Carlin is a charter member of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church. She has been the church secretary for over fifteen years.  She was a floral designer for seven years before she began working at Good Samaritan. She is originally from Iowa.  Jolene and Ken have been married for 38 years. God gave them a daughter and son and four beautiful grandchildren! Besides them, she love to ski, shop, travel and do arts and crafts.  She has loved being a part of the family here at church for the past 30 years. Her job in the office gives her great joy.

Dan Reese - Youth and Family Minister:

Dan has been the Youth and Family Minister at Good Samaritan since June of 2006. He has been a volunteer in Youth Ministry at GSLC for many years. Dan has over 30 years of experience in teaching and working with Middle School and High School youth. He is married to Jo Ann and they have one daughter Jessica Kenney and a beautiful granddaughter Amy Lynn Kenney.

Trish Russell - Connections Coordinator:

Trish was hired as our Connections Coordinator in November of 2006. She really enjoys helping people find where they can use their individual gifts to minister to our church and the community. She has 2 children who are involved in our Kids Connection and Hot Church. Her husband Steve plays in our praise team. Nicole Nalder-Contemporary Music Coordinator:

Nichole is one of the contemporary music directors for Good Samaritan Lutheran Church. She has been singing for over ten years. The Lord got a hold of her heart in July of 2002 and has she never been the same since. God made it very clear to her that she would be using my talent to glorify Him and there is nothing else she would rather be doing. Singing for God is a passion of hers and truly a dream come true. She is so blessed to be here. Nichole has lived in Las Vegas since she was six-years-old and therefore consider herself a native. She also works part time as a nanny and is going to school full time to pursue a degree in marriage and family counseling. In her free time she enjoys spending time with the love of her life (a pit bull mix named Sadie) and hanging out with friends and family.

Kathy Olson - Nursery Coordinator:

Kathy moved to Las Vegas from San Diego with my husband of 34 years, Bob. She has two grown sons, one that is married, they both still live in San Diego. She belonged to Clairemont Lutheran Church since 1982 and was blessed to be the head nursery attendant there for 3 years. Kathy started attending Good Samaritan Church in January 2005 and became a member in March 2005. Shortly after that she became the Nursery Coordinator. In her spare time she belongs to the Red Hat Society at Good Samaritan and enjoys cross stitching, crochet, gardening and scrapbooking.
